What are the health benefits of green tea?

Matcha is a nutritional powerhouse with far reaching health benefits

  • High in antioxidants | Matcha far surpasses other antioxidant-rich foods on the ORAC scale, including blueberries, leafy greens, and dark chocolate.
  • High in potent catechins (a type of antioxidant), particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) which are crucial in protecting cells from damage caused by free radicals. These catechins offer protection against many kinds of cancer, prevent heart disease, reduce cholesterol, and slow the process of aging.
  • Energy, Focus and Calm | Thanks to the combination of the amino acid, l-theanine and caffeine, matcha provided a sustained energy boost with a sense of calm focus. Say hello to your 3pm pick me up.
  • Immunity and Detoxification | Chlorophyll is what makes matcha green - it is rich in minerals, it's an incredible detoxifier and it works to reduce inflammation, effectively stimulating the immune system. Matcha is one of the richest sources of chlorophyll you can find - so your morning brew might just double as your wholefood multivitamin.

HOW IS MATCHA DIFFERENT FROM loose leaf GREEN TEA?

Unlike steeped green tea, with matcha you are consuming the entire leaf and all its benefits.

Matcha plants are shade-grown for three to four weeks prior to harvest, preserving the maximum amount of chlorophyll in each leaf, and increasing the content of amino acid, L-theanine. This is what makes matcha bright green!

The nutrients in matcha are easily absorbed by the body and because it is in powder form, it’s perfect for use in lattes, smoothies, and baking.

WHICH MATCHA GRADE SHOULD I CHOOSE?

We offer 3 grades of pure matcha to suit your needs - whether enjoyed as a traditional tea, a creamy latte or added to your smoothie or baking.

Ceremonial Grade: If you’re enjoying your matcha the traditional way (with water only) then you will love our Ceremonial Grade for its smooth, mellow and mild umami flavour with no bitterness.

Premium Latte Grade: If you enjoy your matcha made with your favourite milk, then our Premium Latte Grade, with it's deep emerald colour and fresh aroma is best for you.

Culinary Grade: If you are using matcha as a powerful superfood in your smoothies, juices, and baking, then our Culinary Grade is best for you. Its bolder flavour will hold its own when used with other ingredients and sweetness

HOW MANY SERVES ARE THERE IN EACH POUCH?

One serving of matcha is approx. two grams (1 tsp). But strength is down to personal preference.

Our 50g tins of Premium Latte and Ceremonial Grade matcha offer up to 30 servings depending on your taste preference.

Matcha may seem expensive but a little goes a long way and remember that not all matcha is created equal. A generic, poor qaulity matcha will be a dull colour and very bitter.

WHAT MILK SHOULD I USE FOR MY MATCHA LATTE?

We think plant-based milks make the best and most delicious matcha lattes. Our favourites are oat, coconut or nut milks.
